During my seminar @ Video '08, I announced a contest - I wanted to know who will be the next great New Doc Editor!.
All you have to do is this - use some of the music mentioned in the entries from this blog (or a selection of your choice), and edit a segment that focuses on content and relies less on special effects.
Post your video on your blog or somewhere I can see it by April 1st, and the winner will receive a copy of each of my DVD compilations to inspire you further. The winning entry will also be featured on this blog.
The DVD compilations are as follows:
Disc 1 - Documentary edits, 4 different documentary edits
(a) 20 minute documentary, chronological with a few flashbacks
(b) 30 minute documentary, using rehearsal dinner toasts and reception toasts as a narrative thread
(c) 40 minute documentary, using retrospective interviews (audio only) as a narrative thread
(d) 45 minute documentary, using retrospective interviews, audio and video, as a narrative thread
Disc 2 - Film edits
(a) Super8mm demo, to show the shots one would need to put together a super8mm demo
(b) 16mm demo - a bit different - a longer demo that covers an entire day by using 4 different weddings
(c) Super8 edit #1 - a 25 minute super8 only film (bride didn't want voices, so no lav mic used)
(d) Super8 edit #2 - a 30 minute super8 only film (using toasts and vows captured thru audio devices)
(e) Super8 Dress Trashing - 3-4 minute film shot in the deserts of Las Vegas that was the subject of a recent eventdv article.
Now get to it!
